GRAIN ROT is an extraction-horror game about inhabiting wooden vessels, descending into shifting ruins, recovering furniture and resources, and rebuilding a persistent Outpost. A run succeeds by bringing useful salvage back, not simply by defeating everything below. If all crew vessels break, the run's loot is lost.
Understand the Core Loop
Every descent begins from the Outpost and proceeds through a cursed elevator. The ruins are shifting and procedurally shaped, so players must adapt rather than memorize one permanent route. The official feature set combines first-person survival horror, physics, loot, crafting, base building, single-player, and online co-op.
The loop is deliberately circular: prepare, descend, explore, choose salvage, return, and improve the base. Progress at the Outpost influences later attempts, while each run presents its own route and risks. Use Vessels and Possession
Players are Living Sparks that require physical hosts. A wooden vessel gives the Spark a body in the ruins, but that body can be destroyed. When it breaks, the Spark can escape, guide the team, and seek another host before fading.

Make a Salvage Decision
Furniture can serve more than one purpose. It can be carried back for the Outpost, broken down for resources, or fed to the Grinder for gold. A large object may promise value while also making the return trip harder, which creates the main risk-versus-reward decision.

Rebuild the Persistent Outpost
The Outpost persists between runs and can be rebuilt with recovered material.
